# Making a backup yourself

We often hear from customers, “I can make a backup myself on a USB or external hard drive.” However, it’s not always easy to find where to do this. Below is an explanation of what to do in the program:

**1. **First, click on **File**, and then select the first option: **Backup files**.

**2. **You will then enter a new screen. Here, you can select the location where you’d like to save the backup (1).

If you’d like to send a backup to our datasafe from time to time (if it isn’t set up to do this automatically), you can select **DataSafe **(2). Finally, click on the “**Next**” button to actually create the backup. Once this is done, you can click “**Finish”** to close the screen.
